“In the economy of mercy
I am a poor and begging man
In the currency of Grace
Is where my song begins
In the colors of Your goodness
In the scars that mark your skin
Is where my song begins”

So Silas has been bugging me about writing a little thingy about why i am apart of the Economy of Mercy. Naturally i put it off for a few weeks, he bugged me and i said i would, but i didn’t; i don’t deal well with idea of doing something without a deadline, cause i don’t do it. But at this moment i am filling out scholarship applications, and it reminded me of Vietnam. Here i am in the most blessed country of the world not worried about money for college, when there are millions of underprivileged children and unfortunate people, who have each other and little to nothing.
They were the nicest people i’d ever met. They would walk around barefoot and with ragged torn clothing yet stop to wipe a smear of paint of your face because they cared so much for your comfort. Something i didn’t fully understand; i, an American, with my American group, waving cameras in their faces, it made me sick. We were there to help them, and be a light for God. But what happened was they were a light to me, they helped me more then i did them.
god taught me more than i had ever learned in my whole life with just 12 hours in Vietnam. I left part of my heart back in the East, and it has influenced everything i do. So with this experience and enlightenment i have it on my heart to help the Vietnamese, with my music and with this little organization. Not one day passes that i don’t think about my days there, and i hope people can feel my feelings when they hear my music, and that we can help as many people directly and indirectly with this project.
Thank You,
Jordan Crider

Silas
Hey there everybody!
Just to let you know a little bit about me, i have, ever since i was younger, been very interested in missions. But until recently i have not actually known much about what kind or where. I have felt a huge calling in my life to South America, where i hope to one day be able to do some field work. But the bigger pull that i have felt upon my heart from God is to the helping and serving of orphans. I came upon a passage, James 1:27 –Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unstained by the world.– a task that i feel the church of America for the most part has forgotten completely about. every day i am faced with selfish thoughts and complaints, but it has been my prayer that God will make himself the center of my life through the causes of the orphans.
thanks
I am so proud to know you two!
